Team Nigeria picked another powerlifting gold medal at the ongoing Paralympics Games in London on Tuesday.
Loveline Obiji got the gold in the women's -82.50kg category of the event. Although she did not create a new world record which stood at 155kg as has been common with the Team Nigeria gold medalists, Obiji's 145kg lift was enough to put her ahead of Egypt's Randa Mahmoud and China's Yanmei Xu that got the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Earlier in the day, Opeyemi Jegede failed to pick a medal in the men's -82.50kg after he finished fourth behind Iran, China and Egypt with a lift of 205kg.
Nigeria now has 11 medals, comprising 5 gold, 5 silver and a bronze medal.
