Team Nigeria decries poor Paralympic officiating

Officials of Team Nigeria have decried biased officiating at the ongoing Paralympics Games in London. According to the team’s officials, the Paralympic umpires are biased against Nigeria because there is no Nigerian official among them.

Our correspondent gathered that the team’s camp was thrown into a frenzy on Monday when its powerlifter in the women's -75kg powerlifting event Folashade Oluwafemiayo was awarded the silver medal even though she finished with the same lift of 146kg with China’s Taoying Fu who was awarded the gold.
The Nigerian officials claimed that the same was done to Lucy Ejike, who should have won a gold medal but was dropped to silver by the officials.
A source from the Team’s camp on Tuesday confirmed that there was indeed uproar against the nature of officiating at the Games by officials. “It appears that the Paralympic officials do not want Nigeria to finish in the top position of the powerlifting event,” said our source.
Meanwhile, Team Nigeria officials have set sights on a total haul of 15 medals by the time the Games end later this week.
An official confirmed on Tuesday that the Team has set it sights on picking up at least fifteen medals.
“We are eyeing 15 medals by the time the Games is over. We assure Nigerians that we will do them proud even more. We are also hoping to break more records as we go,” she said.
An impeccable source from inside the Team’s camp has also denied reports that there is fight over money in camp, noting that nothing has happened to affect the team in any way.
