A contingent from the Ikeja Golf Club is presently in Ghana for the third edition of the annual Ghana-Nigeria golf tourney.
This year's edition is being held at Tema Country Golf Club in Ghana. Tema is staging this edition of the Ghana-Nigeria event.
The first round of the event is ongoing as at the time of filing this report while the second round of the 36-hole tourney will be on Sunday in the 3rd of what has now become an annual tournament between the two clubs.
Tema won the first edition two years ago played in Ghana. Ikeja was victorious the next year. The event now returns to Ghana again in 2012 with both clubs expected to parade a minimum of 40 golfers respectively for competition.
Dr. Paul Owusu-Baah, Captain of the Tema Country Golf Club tells www.sportsinghana.com that his club is looking to maintain the norm and claim victory in this weekend’s competition at the course located on the fringes of the harbour city.
“It’s the same format this year and we hope to beat them again. We are promising Ghanaians that we are going to lift high the flag of Ghana and make the nation proud,” Dr. Owusu-Baah, also Medical Director of Tema Women’s Hospital told www.sportsinghana.com.
The Ikeja Golf Club contingent touched down in Ghana on Friday morning to a warm reception before being conveyed to the Tema Country Golf Club for the event that started with a cocktail on Friday evening.
