Osaze decries missing CAF Player of the Year shortlist

Osaze

Super Eagles and West Bromwich Albion of England striker, Osaze Odemwingie has decried not being shortlisted by Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the African footballer of the year title.
Odemwingie, who felt he had done quite fine to deserve to be shortlisted for the award, noted with utter surprise that he was not even listed for the title.
He is however confident of one day making the list of Africa’s top footballers.
“I am not on CAFs shortlist? Because I did not score 20 (goals)? I still believe. No shaking. My turn will come,” he said.
It would be recalled that CAF recently released a shortlist of players for the title that included Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Christopher Katongo and John Mikel Obi among others.
Meanwhile, Odemwingie is expected to be recalled to the Eagles by Coach Stephen Keshi Nigeria ahead of the AFCON after a clear-the-air talk with the tactician.
“Osaze will be recalled to the Super Eagles after his discussions with Keshi at the weekend,” said team spokesman Ben Alaiya.
Osaze has not played for the Eagles since the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier in Rwanda in February but Keshi revealed last week the player has told him he has quit international football.
Osaze was quoted as saying on Twitter recently: “I am ready! I am not running. Few goals in my legs for Eagles!”
Meanwhile, later this week, Keshi is expected to release a list of foreign players that will join the 22 home based ones that are already in camp.
Futaa.com quotes spokesman of the team, Ben Alaiya as saying that a list of foreign players has already been submitted to the NFF for perusal.
