Falcons in training |
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rescheduled the 2012 African Women Championship (AWC) fixture between the Super Falcons of Nigerian and its counterparts from Cote D'Ivoire.
According to CAF, the match which had been earlier scheduled for 14h 30, will now be played three hours later at 17h 30 instead.
The continental football body however, did not give reasons for this development in the message it sent to media houses on Saturday.
"We would like to inform you that CAF Organising committee for the final tournament of the 8th African Women Championship decided to reschedule the kick-off time of the above-mentioned matches to 14h 30 instead of 17h 30.
"Consequently, the said matches will be played on Sunday 4th November 2012 at 14h30 local time," the statement from CAF read.
This means the Nigerian girls will have to play under flood lights. Also affected by the change is the match between Cameroun and Ethiopia.
Falcons defeated Ethiopia 3-0 in its second group game on Thursday in Bata to move closer to the semifinal of the competition.
The Falcons now have six points from two matches with a game to go. The team needs only a draw against Cote d’Ivoire to qualify for the next round. Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroun have three points each from the same number of games, and one of them will join Nigeria in the next round after the last group games.
Cameroun defeated Cote d’Ivoire 4-1 in the other group game played on Thursday.
