Nigerian golfer wins Hole-in-One car at Glo Golf Tour

Winner of the 1st leg of the Glo Golf Tour in Asaba, Vincent Torgah, tees off at the IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja, on Tuesday.

Nigerian professional golfer Mohammed Yahya Liman of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) Golf Club of Abuja has won himself a state-of-the-art Toyota Corolla saloon car after scoring a hole-in-one on Day 1 of the Abuja leg of the Glo Golf Tour West Africa 2012 that teed off on Tuesday.
An elated Liman could not believe his luck after the impressive prize that had gone untouched in the two previous legs in Asaba and Sagamu became his within just some moments of stepping out on the course.
He explained that all he wanted was just to play fine and enjoy the game, but winning the prize on Hole 8 really made his day.
“My intention was not to play hole-in-one. But by the time I got to Hole 8, I was on 5 over, so my plan was to play a birdie and some to 4 over. Luckily, when I smashed the ball onto the green, it went right into the hole. I am so happy.
“Glo has changed the game of golf in Nigeria. For me, the prize for the Hole-In-One is even bigger than the tournament prize,” he said.
Scores of golfers are already battling it out for the multi-million naira prize money at stake in the third leg of the Glo Golf Tour.
The four-day tournament continues till Friday when the eventual winner of the tourney will take home the big pay.
The last leg of the championship will be played in Oturkpo, Benue State sometime next week.
