Odoh, Gift set the pace as Nigeria, Ghana rekindle rivalry at Glo golf Tour

Cameroon's number one golfer, Ebela Desire tees off during the first tournament of the Glo Golf Tour West Africa at the Ibori Golf and Country Club in Asaba on Thursday
The first in the series of tournaments in the Glo Golf Tour 2012 entered the second day on Friday with Minna Based Martin Odoh taking a three shot lead to cut into the last 36 holes.
Hard hitting Odoh entered his game with an impressive opening, shooting one under par 71 and returned a second day score of 72 to set the tone for a very stiff competition in the tourney.
The competition which is already the talk of the town in the Nigerian golf circle has Willy Gift of Nigeria docking in the second position.
Reigning order of merit winner, Emos Korblah who is also on the tour, realised he may have to work extra hard to pick the first prize.
Ghana's duo of Korblah and Vincent Torgah were placed fourth and sixth respectively.
Several other Nigerian golfers will have to work hard to match the tempo of tournament leaders, as many of them are still striving hard to register their presence at the top of the ranking.
By Friday's result, 35 Nigerians have moved to the next round, while four Ghanaians, including Korblah will also continue in the field.
Cameroonian Ebela Desire who shot 72 on Thursday has also advanced to the next stage.
Category One amateurs also teed off on Friday. They will be playing for N500,000 cash prize and will receive their prizes on Saturday at a cocktail party at the club.
The pros will round off their game on Sunday and winners will be rewarded at the same event.
The tour will thereafter move on to Sagamu, Ogun State.
