Eagles crashes as Lone Star rises on FIFA ranking

Super Eagles of Nigeria has crashed in the latest FIFA ranking released by the international football body for the month of September on Wednesday in Zurich.
The national team dropped 5 places to 63 in the world on 511 points after two straight months of remaining in the 58th position on the globe. Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire remained in the driving seat of African football as it remained unmoved in its 16th position in the world with 951points.  The Ivoirian team was followed by Desert Warriors of Algeria that jumped four places to 24th in the world with 804points.
Eagles of Mali is ranked third in Africa after it moved five places to 27th in the world with 759points. Black Stars of Ghana is ranked fourth on the continent after it remained unmoved in the 31st position in the world with 722points. Pharaohs of Egypt dropped 2 places to 40th position in the world to the fifth position on the continent with 634points while 2012 CAN champions Chipolopolo of Zambia is ranked sixth with 631points in the 41st position in the world.
Carthage Eagles of Tunisia dropped four places to place 45th in the world and seventh on the continent with 620points. The Panthers of Gabon is eighth in Africa and 47th in the world with 610points. It dropped three places to its current spot.
Central Africa Republic (CAR) is ranked ninth in Africa and 49th in the world after it moved up an outstanding 15 places. In the tenth position on the continent and 53rd in the world is The Mediterranean Knights of Libya that dropped a shocking 17 places.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles opponents in the qualifiers of the 2013 Cup of African Nations (CAN), Lone Star of Liberia moved 13 places to number 98 in the world with 357points. The draw against the Eagles in Monrovia on September 9 was a factor in the West African team’s elevation while it played a crucial part in the Super Eagles’ fall on the latest ranking.
On the global scene, world number one and two teams, La Roja of Spain and Machines of Germany remained unmoved with 1611 and 1459points respectively. A Seleccao of Portugal moved a place into the third position with 1259points while Albiceleste of Argentina moved three places to the fourth position in the world. Three Lions of England dropped two places to fifth while Orange of Netherlands moved two places up to sixth and La Celeste of Uruguay dropped two places to number seven.
Azurri of Italy dropped two places to eighth while Los Cafeterros of Colombia moved 13 places to number nine and Greece moved a place up to the 10th position. Former world number one Samba Boys of Brazil dropped two places to 14th in the world.
