Super Eagles on Saturday demolished Liberia's Lone Star 6-1 in Calabar to qualify for the continent most prestigious football event in South Africa next January.
The team that was held to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the last round of qualifiers in Monrovia last September, got on the score sheet in the second minute when Ambrose Efe nodded in a free kick. Ahmed Musa doubled the lead on 38th minute when he jabbed in an Emmanuel Emenike cross from the right to end the half 2-0.
Hardly had the second half started that Victor Moses got his first goal for Nigeria off Nosa Igiebor's pass in the 47th minute.
Mikel Obi made it four goals five minutes later from the spot kick when Liberia's goalkeeper, Nathaniel Sherman fell goal-bound Nosa Igiebor in the box.
The situation was made worse for Liberia when its captain, Gebro Duncan was red-carded for a second bookable offense on 71st minute. A minute after, Ike Uche, made it five when he collected a through pass and took a shot that crashed off the post before settling in the net.
Bedell Wleh put some respectability on the scoreline when he pulled one back on 81st minute before Victor Moses made it six when he nodded in a Mikel Obi pull-out from the left flank six minutes later.
The next Nations Cup is in South Africa from Jan. 19 to Feb. 10.
