CAF Champions League: Sunshine draws Al Ahly in Ijebu Ode

The first leg of the CAF Champions League semifinal clash between Sunshine Stars and Al Ahly of Egypt did not turn out as expected for the Nigerian representatives as the team recorded a shaky 3-3 draw at home in Ijebu Ode.
Al Ahly scored the first goal through Mohammed Nagy Gedo in the 18th minute then increased the lead through Al Sayed Hamdy in the 30th minute while Sunshine Stars got into the game with a goal through Camerounian-born Josue Medrano Tamen in the 34th minute. The first half ended on this note.
Sunshine leveled up in the second half through Dayo Ojo's penalty kick in the 73rd minute only for Gedo to score again a minute later. But Sunshine pulled back into reckoning with a third goal through Precious Osasco Omoma to tie the match on 3-3.
This result puts Sunshine Stars in a very precarious position as it will now have to head to Egypt with the tough task of defeating Ahly on home soil or else its hopes of getting to the final will be cut short.
To go through to the next stage, Sunshine has to defeat Al Ahly at home outright or at least record another 3-3 draw in Cairo.
