The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the ongoing sports festival has offered free cinema tickets and boat cruising to athletes and officials as part of Lagos State's hospitality.
LOC scribe, Kweku Tandoh said in a statement that the essence of the offer is to make the participants to feel right at home in Lagos.
For the cinema, films would be shown the Games Village at UBA Park, Tinubu Hall and Moremi Hall in UNILAG, while films would also be shown at the Yaba College of Technology and Federal College of Education, Akoka.
He said: “As most of the athletes are in the mood for the games, it became necessary for them to want to relax in the evening and that is why we have put this in place for them to enjoy themselves after each day. The film will start at 8pm each day till Friday December 7 at hall the Games Village. It is important that we treat all our visitors to a nice time.”
With the boat cruising and bus tour, which began on Sunday, Tandoh said that this would also be on a daily basis with all the athletes and officials qualify to be part of the experience.
“The boat cruising started at the weekend and we have decided to make it a daily basis and we will be glad if athletes and officials can avail themselves the opportunity to be part of the experience. It is free for all athletes and officials that have been accredited for the games. The stands of See Lagos, Feel Lagos are dotted all over the venues, while the land tour will be done on an open double-decker bus. We want all participants to always remember the experience days, months and years after the festival,” the LOC scribe said.
Various views have trailed the Lagos hosting of the festival since it began on November 27. Athletes earlier in the Games complained of being uncomfortable while some sports were rescheduled, but participants have overall thumbed up Lagos.
